Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
Mocktest.uk provides the Mocktest.uk driving-assessment support service.
Privacy enquiries can be sent to privacy@mocktest.uk.
2. The roles of instructors and Mocktest.uk
For information used to administer instructor accounts, subscriptions, security and the operation of Mocktest.uk, Mocktest.uk generally determines why and how that information is processed.
When an instructor enters candidate information and assessment records for their own teaching or assessment purposes, the instructor will generally determine why that candidate information is being used. Mocktest.uk stores and processes that information to provide the service to the instructor. The precise legal roles may depend on the circumstances in which an instructor uses the service.
3. Information we collect
Depending on how the service is used, we may process:
- instructor name, email address, account identifiers and login/security information;
- subscription status, Stripe customer/subscription identifiers and billing-related metadata;
- candidate names, email addresses and notes entered by instructors;
- mock-test dates, assessment faults, results, examiner notes, progress information and related records;
- technical information needed for security and operation of the service, such as session information, request logs, IP addresses and browser/device information where generated by our hosting infrastructure;
- communications sent to us or generated through the service;
- referral information, including referral codes, referral attribution, signup/conversion status and account-credit rewards.
Passwords are stored as one-way password hashes. Mocktest.uk does not store full payment-card details.
4. How information is obtained
Instructor information is generally provided directly by the instructor. Candidate information is normally supplied by an instructor rather than directly by the candidate. Technical information may be generated automatically when the service is accessed.
5. Why we use information
We use personal information where necessary to provide and administer accounts and subscriptions, store and retrieve mock assessments, generate reports and progress information, send requested candidate result emails, protect the service from misuse, respond to support requests, meet legal obligations and manage legitimate business operations.
6. Lawful bases
Depending on the processing involved, our lawful bases may include performance of a contract, legitimate interests in operating and securing the service, compliance with legal obligations, and consent where consent is specifically requested. Instructors are responsible for identifying an appropriate lawful basis for candidate information they choose to enter into the service.
7. Payments
Payments and subscription management are provided using Stripe. When you purchase or manage a subscription, information is exchanged with Stripe as necessary to process the transaction and maintain subscription status. Stripe processes payment information under its own privacy terms. Mocktest.uk receives identifiers and status information needed to recognise whether an instructor subscription is active, but does not receive or store full card details.
8. Email and hosting providers
We may use hosting, database, email-delivery, security and infrastructure suppliers to provide Mocktest.uk. Those providers may process personal information only to the extent necessary to provide their services to us, subject to their contractual and legal obligations.
9. Who information is shared with
We do not sell candidate or instructor personal information. Information may be shared with service providers such as Stripe, hosting and email providers; professional advisers where necessary; public authorities where required by law; or another organisation if the service or business is lawfully transferred, subject to appropriate protections.
10. International transfers
Some suppliers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where UK data-protection law requires safeguards for an international transfer, appropriate transfer mechanisms should be used by the relevant provider or by us.
11. How long information is kept
Account and assessment information is normally retained while the instructor account remains active and for a reasonable period afterwards where necessary for backup recovery, security, disputes, accounting or legal obligations. Payment and accounting records may need to be retained for longer periods required by law. Instructors should delete candidate information when it is no longer needed for the purposes for which they collected it.
Backup copies may remain for a limited period after deletion before being overwritten through normal backup rotation.
12. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information, including HTTPS where configured, password hashing, account-based access controls, prepared database queries and restricted candidate ownership within instructor accounts. No online service can guarantee absolute security or permanent availability.
13. Referral information
When somebody follows an instructor referral link, Mocktest.uk may store the referral code in a strictly limited first-party cookie and server session so that the signup can be attributed to the referring instructor. The referral cookie is currently retained for up to 30 days. Referral records are used to administer and prevent abuse of the referral programme.
14. Cookies and local/session storage
Mocktest.uk currently uses cookies or equivalent browser/session storage that are necessary for login, session security and operation of the service. We do not currently use advertising cookies. If optional analytics, advertising or other non-essential tracking is introduced, this policy and any required consent mechanism should be updated before those technologies are enabled.
15. Candidate privacy
Candidate records are intended to be visible only within the instructor account that owns them. Candidate email addresses are masked on ordinary list screens, although authorised instructors can use the stored address for functions such as sending a result email.
16. Your data-protection rights
Depending on the circumstances, individuals may have rights to ask for access to their personal information, correction of inaccurate information, deletion, restriction of processing, objection to processing and data portability. Where processing is based on consent, consent can normally be withdrawn without affecting earlier lawful processing.
If you are a candidate whose information was entered by a driving instructor, contacting that instructor may be the quickest way to exercise rights relating to their assessment records. You can also contact us at privacy@mocktest.uk and we will assist as appropriate.
17. Complaints
If you have concerns about how personal information is handled, please contact us first so we can investigate. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
18. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the service, suppliers or legal requirements change. The latest version will be published on Mocktest.uk with its revision date.
